FTTP OSP DESIGN ENGINEER – position description Texas The FTTP OSP Engineer creates project designs, estimates costs, identifies appropriate materials and equipment, creates drawings, and estimates project timelines, for the placement of copper, COAX and fiber optic cables, poles, conduit, transmission equipment and associated electronics. The FTTP OSP Engineer creates designs based on current and past network architectures including, REA, FRD, CSA, FITL, FTTN, FTTP, COP, VRAD, F2, Light Speed and others. The FTTP OSP project designs must conform to NEC, TIA, Telecordia, Company, current Telecom, and local, national regulations, specifications and guidelines. The OSP Engineer should be proficient in conduit, manhole, hand hole, underground, submarine, buried and aerial construction methods. The FTTP OSP Engineer works with local, state, federal and private jurisdictions to obtain permission and approval to encroach upon public and private lands to place the proposed OSP facilities. The FTTP OSP Engineer uses a variety of methods and means to create Engineering Work Order packages. Drawings in addition to being created “by hand” are normally created electronically using Micro Station, Visio, AutoCAD and other proprietary and commercially available software. The FTTP OSP Engineer will use a wide variety of Company proprietary project scheduling, material, records and project management systems including IDDS, ICGS, RAMS, AAIS, ACES, ARES, ELP, FEI, LFACS, OPTI, JAMS, (SBC) Telcolli, LEIS, LMOS, and JMOS for example. The FTTP OSP Engineer should be proficient with Microsoft Office software including, WORD, EXCEL, Power Point, and Outlook. The FTTP OSP Engineer should possess basic engineering tools such as a lay up stick, pole prod, measuring wheel, 100 foot tape measure, drawing templates, and may be required to have an automobile or truck, lap top computer, GPS unit, cell phone and facsimile. The FTTP OSP Engineer will be required to have a valid driver’s license and state minimum liability insurance. The FTTP OSP Engineer will be required to submit to a background check and drug screen.
